Smart Energy GB’s nationwide campaign wins further industry recognition at the British Arrows Awards 2017

Smart Energy GB, the voice of the smart meter rollout, has taken home a further accolade from the British Arrows Awards after winning four awards in 2016.

The organisation won a Bronze Award at this year’s British Arrows Awards, which celebrate excellence in British commercial film. This is the 13th marketing industry award Smart Energy GB has won and recognises the creative and impactful approach the organisation is taking.

Smart Energy GB has been recognised for its film, Supermarket, which brings to life the absurdity of estimated energy bills. Smart meters bring an end to estimated bills. Supermarket is a humorous hidden camera film where cashiers estimate the cost of shoppers’ groceries, leaving them puzzled and perplexed.

Claire Howes, Deputy Director of Marketing at Smart Energy GB, said: “I’m absolutely delighted that our content continues to be recognised by industry leaders – as well as the general public – as truly compelling and engaging. Our Supermarket film has now been seen by more than 200 million people.

“Energy is a low interest category and we have an enormous task at Smart Energy GB to engage everyone in Britain with smart meters and the rollout. Humour can be a great way to engage people and winning this award shows our work is not only innovative and creative, but also continues to resonate.”

About Smart Energy GB

Smart Energy GB is the voice of the smart meter rollout. It’s our task to help everyone in Great Britain understand smart meters, the national rollout and how to use their new meters to get their gas and electricity under control. Our national campaign is reaching households and microbusinesses in England, Scotland and Wales.

About smart meters and the rollout

Smart meters replace the traditional meters we currently have in our homes. They enable accurate bills, near real time information on energy use in pounds and pence, and greater control over the way we buy and use energy. The smart meter rollout is an essential technology upgrade, unprecedented in its scale, to improve Great Britain’s energy infrastructure.

Almost 7 million smart meters have already been installed in homes and microbusinesses, and between now and 2020 every household in England, Scotland and Wales will be offered one at no additional cost. Contact your energy supplier today about installing your smart meter.
