Smart Energy GB responds to an Advertising Standards Authority ruling
Responding to an Advertising Standards Authority ruling about a smart meter advert broadcast in July 2018, a spokesperson said:
"The Advertising Standards Authority agrees with us that if we all get a smart meter we could save enough energy to power Manchester, Liverpool or Newcastle. If Britain is serious about tackling climate change and our children inheriting a planet worth living on, one of the ways we can all help is to get a smart meter, save money and the planet all at the same time.
"However, we disagree with the ASA's ruling on a technical point around the use of terms and conditions in the advert and are appealing their decision."
"It is extremely odd that they have ruled against something which is substantiated in the terms and conditions within the advert. Using Ts & Cs to substantiate claims is widely used practice across the advertising industry."
