Scottish Federation of Housing Associations and Smart Energy GB partnership to help older people without internet access find out more about smart meters

Smart Energy GB and the Scottish Federation of Housing Associations (SFHA) will work together in a partnership, which will run until the end of 2017, to help people in Scotland aged over 65 who don’t have access to the internet find out more about smart meters, how to get theirs installed and how to use the new technology in their homes.

The SFHA has 119 Housing Association members across Scotland, which provide housing to thousands of older people. The SFHA works to support member Associations with the tools, information and guidance that they need to help them meet the needs of their tenants.

Over the past year, Smart Energy GB and the SFHA have worked together to provide information on smart meters and the rollout to social housing tenants across Scotland. In 2017 the focus will be on equipping housing associations with the information and resources they need to further increase the confidence of older people in the new technology.
